HUDSON MONTGOMERY AND ANJA ROBERTSON BECOME FOUR-TIME ESWG ALPINE MEDALISTS

WILMINGTON, N.Y. – Alpine skiers Hudson Montgomery and Anja Robertson will both need to find extra room in their ski packs for the four medals they won this weekend at Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y. Hudson, who represents West Mountain, heads home with three Empire State Winter Games Alpine gold medals and one silver, while Robertson has to make room for her three gold and one bronze medal, after they both claimed podium spots in Sunday’s, Feb. 4, slalom event.

Montgomery, who won both Friday’s men’s Super-G races and Saturday’s Giant Slalom silver medal, claimed his third Games victory, skiing to a two-run time of one minute, 36.0 seconds.

In the Alpine skiing slalom event, competitors rapidly maneuver through a series of gates. Participants completed two runs, and their final time is calculated as a combination of each. Sunday’s course on Draper’s Drop featured 59 gates and a vertical drop of 153-meters.

Jackson Magnus, who skis for Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y., won the silver medal in a time of 1:38.9, while Windham Mountain’s Jack Conneely claimed bronze. Conneely, who won two men’s Super-G silver medals Friday, finished his two race runs in a total time of 1:41.0.

Jane Rathbun, of HiliMont Ski Resort, won the women’s event. She outraced the 43-skier field with a combined time of 1:39.10. The silver medal went to West Mountain’s Talbot Muirenn, 1:40.20, while Robertson finished in the bronze medal spot. Robertson, who won Friday’s two women’s Super-G races and Saturday’s women’s Giant Slalom event, wrapped up her racing weekend in a time of 1:40.6.
