LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Today, the Adirondack Sports Council (ADKSC) and DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) announced a partnership that designates DICK’S as an official sponsor of the Jan. 30-Feb. 2, 2025 Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) and its torch relay.
To celebrate the sponsorship, DICK’S House of Sport in Victor, N.Y. and DICK’S Sporting Goods in Clay, N.Y. will welcome the torch relay and provide the Games’ athletes with discounted clothing and apparel.
“DICK’S Sporting Goods partners with communities that are passionate about sports,” said Adirondack Sports Council executive director Tracy Smith. “The Empire State Winter Games are a perfect showcase of this commitment, bringing together athletes of all ages to not only compete but to celebrate the spirit of winter sports. We’re thrilled to see communities across New York come alive with the excitement and camaraderie that these games inspire.”
The ESWG Torch Relay is expected to begin in Buffalo and culminate its journey throughout the Empire State, on Jan. 30, in Lake Placid. It will arrive in time for the Games’ Opening Ceremony, where an expected 2,500 athletes, competing in 25 sports, will march into the famed Olympic Center, home to the 1980 U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team’s “Miracle on Ice.”
The 45th annual ESWG is the largest and longest continuous amateur, winter multi-sport event in the United States. This winter’s event is expected to attract winter athletes from ages eight to 80 who will compete in 25 winter sports, including sliding sports, figure skating, sled hockey, winter biking, and more. In addition to Lake Placid, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Paul Smiths and Wilmington will also host events.
