VERMONT FLAMES WIN EMPIRE STATE WINTER GAMES U14 GIRLS HOCKEY GOLD MEDAL

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Vermont faced off against Massena in Sunday’s, Feb. 4, Empire State Winter Games’ U14 girls hockey gold medal hockey game at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. Lillian Baldaraso scored the game’s only goal, with seven minutes, 13 seconds played in the third period, lifting the Vermont Flames to a 1-0 victory.

The Flames opened the three-day tournament, Friday, Feb. 2, skating to a 1-1 draw against Saugerties, before topping Rhode Island, Saturday, 3-1 to reach the championship game.

Massena came into the title game with a 1-0-1 record too. They opened play with 1-0 victory, Friday, over Rhode Island, before tying Saugerties 3-3, on Saturday.

Maddy Colby stopped all 16 shots she faced to secure the win, while Alexis Rangnow turned aside 20 of 21 shots on net.
