U.S. WORLD CUP PARA-BOBSLED TEAM SLIDES FOR EMPIRE STATE WINTER GAMES’ PODIUM

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The U.S. World Cup Para-Bobsled team wrapped up their training camp at the Mt Van Hoevenberg Sports Complex, in Lake Placid, N.Y., and kicked off the first day of competition for the Feb. 1-4, 2024 Empire State Winter Games. Robert Balk claimed the Games’ first medal, winning Thursday’s race in a two-run time of two minutes, 02.16 seconds.

“This was a great way to close out our camp,” said race director Chris Brower. “We had a great mix of veteran and novice athletes participating and the World Cup team really shined, while at the same time the camp showed that we have great potential for the future.”

David Christopher won the 44th annual Empire State Winter Games’ Para-Bobsled silver medal, finishing his two runs down the mile-long, icy track in 2:02:29, while Austin Parker won bronze in 2:02.64.
