The Empire State Winter Games and Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York annually present the Athlete of the Year award to a recent athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship, leadership, community service, academic excellence, and overall, what it means to be an Empire State Winter Games Athlete.
Finalists will all receive an Athlete of the Year Sport Award, complimentary registration for the following Games, and a prize pack from Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York and the Empire State Winter Games.
The Overall Winner will receive an Athlete of the Year Award Plaque, the opportunity to light the cauldron at next year’s opening ceremony, a $1,000 donation to a sport organization of their choice, and more!
