The Games

The Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) is a community-driven event that celebrates athletes, winter, and the Adirondacks. With three days of competitions, an opening ceremony, and a 700-mile torch relay, the ESWG is a destination event for the whole family!

From Thursday – Sunday, athletes from ages 8-80 will compete in more than 20 winter sports, including sliding sports, figure skating, sled hockey, curling, bobsledding, cross country skiing and more!

The Torch Tour kicks off the week before the opening ceremony. The Torch Team will make their way across New York State, stopping at several Community Bank branches and sporting clubs, before making their way back to Lake Placid to light the cauldron and kick off the Games.

More information will be available as we prepare for the 2026 Games!
