46th Annual Empire State Winter Games Scheduled for February 5-8, 2026 in Lake Placid and Surrounding North Country Region

MALONE, N.Y. — The Empire State Winter Games continue to build impressive momentum, expanding in both size and participation as athletes from across New York State, the Northeastern United States, and Canada return to Lake Placid and the greater Adirondack region for another exciting weekend of competition, Feb. 5–8, 2026. Adding to this year’s growth, organizers have introduced a new sport to its lineup: bowling, which will join a diverse roster of winter events including curling, figure skating, boys’ and girls’ ice hockey, luge, Nordic skiing, skeleton, speed skating, and winter triathlon.

“We’re excited to include Malone as the next Franklin County community to host an Empire State Winter Games event,” said Karlan Jessen, Adirondack Sports Council (ADKSC) executive director. “The expansion reflects the Games’ commitment to evolving with the interests of its diverse athlete community while providing even more opportunities for competitors of all ages and abilities.”

The Saturday, Feb. 7, six-game tournament at Lucky Strike Lanes in Malone is expected to draw up to 80 athletes competing in boys’ and girls’ youth divisions as well as men’s and women’s adult categories. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division, and all participants will receive an official Empire State Winter Games athlete sweater.
